The Players
The Celebration String Quartet are all busy, full-time freelance players and specialist instrumental teachers based in the Midlands.
Suzie Walden - Quartet Organiser and Professional 'Cellist
After leaving the Royal College of Music in London, Suzie freelanced with major British orchestras before taking up a 2 year contract with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. Here, she experienced a variety of professional music-making from Opera and Ballet to String Quartet concerts for radio and studio work recording TV jingles.
This was followed by a 4 year full time contract in the orchestra of Opera North, based in Leeds. Suzie now freelances throughout the Midlands with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Orchestra de Camera and other Orchestras. Suzie also teaches at Malvern Cottage.
Suzie’s parents were both light music performers so it was a natural progression for her to set up the Celebration String Quartet to play background music for special occasions. The Celebration ensembles are now Suzie’s main interest and she takes each individual booking very seriously, wanting to make each special event even more memorable.
Suzie has a small pool of loyal regular professional players who have been working with Celebration for many years. If the regular players are unavailable, or indisposed, Suzie has a wide knowledge of musicians in the Midlands and of other string quartets so you can be assured that the standard will remain high at all times.
